Netstar, a subsidiary of Altron, has unveiled its cutting-edge Global Fleet Bureau. The bureau, touted as the largest and most advanced of its kind on the African continent, signals a significant leap forward in vehicle telematics technology.
Officially launched on April 23, 2024, the Global Fleet Bureau represents a strategic initiative by Netstar to cater to the growing needs of its commercial fleet customer base. Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and leveraging advanced telematics solutions, the bureau aims to set new standards in vehicle monitoring and management services.
"The Netstar Global Fleet Bureau allows us to deliver unprecedented functionality and service levels to our customers. It will enhance driver and vehicle safety through, for example, a detailed event occurrence book to fleet managers facilitating preventative and immediate remedial action, including live video monitoring of incidents from dispatch to door." said Grant Fraser, Group Managing Director of Netstar.
Key features of the Global Fleet Bureau include asset tracking, driver behavior management, automated incident alerts, real-time monitoring through geofencing, live video monitoring via AI-powered onboard cameras, and comprehensive reporting and analytics tools. These functionalities are expected to significantly enhance driver and vehicle safety while enabling fleet managers to make informed decisions in real-time.
The Global Fleet Bureau combines Netstar's advanced telematics with recently integrated artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities. This proactive approach aims to continually enhance service quality and response times by analyzing vast amounts of data generated from over 2 million connected devices.
"We have a big responsibility at Netstar to manage and continually improve the safety of our customers’ drivers, their vehicles and cargo, as well as to create cost efficiencies within their businesses. The Global Fleet Bureau provides highly trained and skilled agents, to offer customers exceptional service and equips fleet operators to maintain or improve their standard service level agreements with their customers.
Our facilities will continue to evolve with our data, AI, and machine learning technologies." added Fraser.
Netstar's involvement in initiatives such as Business for South Africa (B4SA) further highlights its dedication to promoting safety and efficiency within the transportation sector. By leveraging its technology and expertise, Netstar aims to contribute to the creation of safe transport corridors, such as the critical N4 route.
Customer testimonials have already demonstrated the value delivered by the Global Fleet Bureau.
"Netstar is backed by the Altron Group, and they’ve got the latest and greatest technology. Their camera system gives me alerts so that I can understand what is happening on the ground. This is impacting our insurance premiums because we have much more visibility. We can proactively manage our field force and we can proactively change our driver behaviour to minimise risk and accidents." said Bernardus Bouwer, Managing Director of Blink Logic.
Similarly, Julian Visagie, CEO of Hertz SA, lauded the bureau's impressive infrastructure and technology, saying, "The Global Fleet Bureau is extremely impressive. I didn’t know what to expect and with this it just shows the commitment from Netstar to say that we are a technology partner, and not just a tracking company."
As customer demand continues to rise, Netstar plans to expand its command center network, with additional bureaus slated for rollout in the near future. This expansion reflects Netstar's commitment to providing world-class fleet management services tailored to meet the evolving needs of its diverse customer base.
