Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu has named one of the country's tech leaders, Bosun Tijani, as the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. With this, Tijani will be overseeing Nigeria's burgeoning ICT sector, including the telecommunications industry where companies like MTN, Airtel, 9mobile, and Globacom are major players.
Coming from the tech community, Tijani as a Minister in the Tech sector will also be expected to cater to the interest and growth of the West African country's startup ecosystem. Specifically, attention will be on Tijani to see to the implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act, a development-focused law passed at the twilight of the immediate past Muhammadu Buhari administration.
